The Climb Worship

When our dear leader (Faith) comes to me with new ideas for videos, nine times out of ten I respond positively. When she said ‘We’re going to climb to the top of Pen-y-Fan’ (the highest mountain peak in South Wales), well my response was definitely within the nine, but still with a little trepidation. My own wife, who loves walking, had not yet succeeded in getting me to the top of Pen-y-Fan after many years of trying. So it really was an accomplishment for me to give a resoundingly positive ‘Hmmmm ok’......

To Honour

To Honour

I’ve always believed in the importance of honouring your elders. It’s built right in there at number 5 of the ten commandments after all! But in addition to that I believe it’s important to honour those mentors in our lives who teach and equip us to ‘do life’ more generally speaking. Those people whose influence on us lasts far longer than the time actually spent together. For me, one such person is Tim Finch. You may recognise the name if you have seen our recent video ‘Real Stories – Passion Through The......

blog five tips for worship

Five tips for understanding worship

Worship doesn’t have a genre. The worship team playing your favourite song doesn’t mean you’re more able to worship. That’s shallow worship because it’s doing more for you than God. Worshipping God regardless of the music and surroundings is a good indicator of your boundaries of worship. Be boundless! Know why we worship. The key to this is in the bible, look up the Tabernacle as the pattern for worship is there. It has been said that when the pattern is right the glory will fall. Have we got the pattern of......

Who is building what?

Who is building what?

I had the pleasure of hearing a famous preachers story yesterday and it got to the core of me. He has thousands in his church so he plants a new church every month because of the overflow of people coming in. I assumed for a long time that this was a man that just heard the call of the Lord and did it and bang! It has exploded and keeps growing. But that’s not how it happened. I loved the honesty that poured out of his heart. He started a church from......

When God Calls

When God Calls

I’d like to share with you all briefly how God called me into working at The Worship Effect, it’s a story of God fulfilling the desires of your heart, and then some! I have been established as a self-employed freelance videographer since 2010 and working in video for much longer than that. I have worked with many clients over the years on a wide range of video genres and I can honestly say I love what I do. But I look back and recognise the standout projects for me, for my heart,......

Halloween or hallono?

Halloween or hallono?

I’ve got to be honest i’m split about the festival of halloween! I was brought up to not have anything to do with it as far as the ‘scary’ bits were concerned…..no witches…..no ghosts…..nada. But i went to a fantastic church that always put on a ‘Hallelujah’ party on (I know, the name is cheeseeee). But it consisted of all things that bring light and joy! Having said that, when i had my first child i didn’t want him missing out on the Halloween parties that my mates were having for their......

Choices choices

Choices choices

What happens next to you will be dictated by the choices you make now! Not fate, choice! This is not an agreeable concept for the majority of people because we as humans hate taking responsibility for the rubbish that happens. So this blog comes with a warning….if you get offended easily then please stop here! However, i recommend being offended sometimes…..it keeps us humble. I often hear people say that once they become a christian and give their life to God that he would now dictate what happened next….from long term into......

Living to give or living to gain?

Living to give or living to gain?

This weekend i’ve been inspired. Changed. I don’t think i’ll ever be the same. Some months ago I organised for preacher Ray Hughes to come to our church to speak and to film with TWE. I knew this would be amazing and we would hear some fantastic stuff filled with revelation and truth, I couldn’t wait for people to hear it. Little did i know the impact it would have on me. Most of the time in most churches I see people who live to gain. They do give, they help, they......

The humility pill!

The humility pill!

Life has a way of dishing you out a humility pill now and again. When everything is going amazing, you’re finding yourself in situations you never dreamt you’d be in….life is just peachy and then you start losing track of the core things that are important in life because you’re too distracted with stuff….meaningless stuff! Well let me tell you of the dose of humility i recieved today. I woke up after an amazing FULL nights sleep (yes its totes rare and soooo appreciated when it happens….this was my time!). The kids......
